Dankoville on Naras Nook grid

Journey To The Center Of The Metaverse

Dankoville Welcome image

Dankoville is my OpenSim home.

Dankoville is open to all visitors to explore, write, roleplay or just hang out. It’s online 24/7, give or take the odd glitch. Located on Naras Nook grid, Dankoville is accesible via Hypergrid: world.narasnook.com:8900:dankoville

If I’m in town or the surrounding area, I might be working or just hanging out. If you’re visiting, don’t hesitate to say hello or ask a question. It’s best to use IM as I might not notice local chat.

The sim is the setting for some of my story writing. In story, Dankoville is a small town in a farming area somewhere in the Corn Belt of the United States.

We are a long-term project and therefore always in some state of disarray, under construction, pardon our appearance, etc.

Latest Louisiana Oil Pipeline Rupture, Photos; #NoDAPL

September 16, 2016

Vanishing Earth

Yesterday, I flew over the latest pipeline leak on the Louisiana Gulf Coast and took plenty of footage to document the damage. The scene out there is pretty nasty and reminiscent of the 2010 BP disaster, though much smaller in scale. My flight was sponsored by SouthWings.org and piloted by the incredibly skilled Lance Rydberg.

South Louisiana continues to get ravaged by pipeline and other leaks. The latest came in the form of an estimated  5,250-gallon crude oil leak on Chenier Ronquille, a barrier island on the edge of Bay Long in southern Barataria Bay. The incident was allegedly caused by a contractor working on a restoration project aimed at restoring the effects of, well, the BP disaster. Apparently heavy equipment operated by Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. accidentally cut through the pipeline owned by Harvest Pipeline Company, an affiliate of Hilcorp Energy. You may recall that Hilcorp was responsible…

VOB viewer reaches release status in Second Life

September 15, 2016

Inara Pey: Living in a Modem World

secondlifeOn Thursday, September 15th, the Lab promoted the Visual Outfits Browser (VOB) as the de facto release viewer, version: 4.0.8.319463.

For those who missed my coverage of this viewer when it reached RC status, and simply put, the VOB viewer allows you to use the Appearance floater to capture / upload / select images of your outfits and save them against the outfits in a new Outfit Gallery tab within the floater.

The new Outfits Gallery tab (right-click your avatar > select My Appearance > Outfits Gallery) displays all of your created outfits as a series of folder icons, each one displaying the name of the outfit beneath it. You can replace these icons with an image of the outfit quickly and easily in one of three ways:

  • You can wear the outfit, then right-click on its associated folder icon and select Take a Snapshot (shown above left). This…

Bento: extending the avatar skeleton Bento: extending the avatar skeleton

The following notes and audio were taken from the weekly Bento User Group meeting, held on Thursday, September 8th at 13:00 SLT at the the Hippotropolis Campfire Circle. For details on the meeting agenda, please refer to the Bento User Group wiki page.

Note that this update is not intended to offer a full transcript of the meeting, nor does it present the discussion points in chronological order. Rather, it represents the core points of discussion, grouped together by subject matter were relevant / possible, whilst maintaining the overall context of the meeting.

RC Viewer Release

It is still hoped the Bento viewer will move to RC status soon. The main reluctance with pushing it further is to give people enough time for final testing with the majority of Avastar issues now hopefully resolved (see below). There are currently no major changes to…
